This often involves deployment to various theatres of military operations and can lead to many challenges such as restrictions, privations, and dangers. It is therefore important to care for those who defend or have defended us, to support both the morale of the serving or former soldiers as well as their ability to efficiently assess and manage any mental problems they may face. One of the most common mental health challenges faced by military personnel is post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Studies show that a very large number of military personnel returning from theatres of operations have experienced at least one traumatic event and only half of soldiers with PTSD have sought professional help. This is in part due to the shame of being stigmatized and the discomfort of talking to a professional. Through the RIM project we are addressing this need through the development of an application that provides easy-to-use tools for military personnel and veterans to identify, manage and overcome PTSD. The app will be accessible from anywhere, without the need to go to a psychologist's office.
The app is designed to help soldiers and veterans identify and manage their symptoms, prevent exclusion from civilian society, and improve their mental health. It will provide them with easy-to-use tools, such as multiple choice test for identifying symptoms of PTSD and tips on effective response techniques. The Resilience and Inclusion for the Military (RIM) project aims to support active military personnel and veterans by helping them manage post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and promote social inclusion. The project's objectives include raising awareness of PTSD symptoms, developing PTSD management skills, decreasing negative perceptions of mental or physical disability and promoting integration into civilian society for active and veteran soldiers.
Psychological support for military personnel is crucial and the RIM project aims to help them manage PTSD, improve their mental health and enabling inclusion in the civilian society. This project is an important step in addressing the needs of military personnel and veterans, and we hope it will make a positive impact on the lives of those who have served.
